On May 29th, we’ll be releasing Path of Exile 2 Return of the Ancients Patch 0.5.0. This is far from a routine patch; it’s a storm of gameplay overhaul from the ground up.
Endgame has been completely revamped, along with a brand-new crafting system, Runes of Aldur league, numerous map changes, and the addition of new enemies. Every strategic move you make will impact your gameplay experience, so being well-prepared is crucial.
In this structural reshuffling, those who understand the mechanics and plan ahead before launch will gain a significant advantage in conquering fortresses and reaping loot. POECurrency.com has prepared a complete preparation guide to help you reach the top from the start.
Atlas Changes
First, POECurrency.com will guide you through the endgame content and some Atlas changes. Atlas has undergone a series of changes: the familiar infinite map will now feature multiple fixed locations, allowing you to reach areas connected to existing quest lines from every direction.
Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients introduces a series of new quests, including Delirium, Breach, and Ritual, each scattered across different locations on the map. Completing these quests along specific directions will earn you corresponding skill points.
Atlas Passive Tree has been extensively reworked, allowing you to freely allocate and adjust your skill points to suit different playstyles. These skill points will be unlocked progressively as you complete new quest lines corresponding to those mechanics.
Unlocking the first tower will unlock the core PoE2 main storyline, where your goal is to conquer a fortress. Conquering a fortress grants 300 points, which can be invested in Atlas Passive Tree; all nodes can be allocated.
You don’t need to worry about grinding through 300 maps. POECurrency.com discovered that by continuously defeating bosses, you can unlock entire areas within fortresses and autocomplete numerous maps. Defeating a boss will also reward you with 15 skill points, and some POE2 events will even offer multiple points at once, significantly reducing the number of maps you actually need to complete.
The new endgame content is richer than ever before, with more quests to complete. POECurrency.com reminds you to expand your Garrison’s Atlas as much as possible before starting to prepare maps. Furthermore, Garrison maps will incorporate some changes familiar from POE1.
However, we are currently unsure whether completing all Garrison maps and collecting all points will reward you with a complete Atlas tree; nor are we sure if Garrison will be attractive enough to keep you there simply for the enjoyment of grinding, collecting essences, or opening chests.
But some scattered information suggests that this gameplay will have many positive bonuses: for example, Azmeri Spirits will actively seek out and occupy Strongboxes and can influence monsters. Combined with the large number of new monster types, you might be able to farm substantial loot and currency in Garrison, making the process quite enjoyable.
If you want to easily conquer new fortresses, you can buy POE 2 currency at POECurrency.com to craft and enhance your gear. We are the most reliable and affordable platform, offering top-notch service to greatly improve your gaming experience.
To further enrich your customized endgame experience, Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients has added three new Masters of Atlas. POECurrency.com reminds you that each master has a unique passive skill tree, which you can freely allocate and modify points to influence endgame rewards and challenges.
New Crafting Runes
The newly added Runes of Aldur bring over 100 new Crafting Runes, and Runes can be upgraded beyond their original highest quality.
Ezomyte Runesmithing
Ezomyte Runesmithing allows you to farm POE2 currency at low cost, or runes based on symbols on the tome. This is a brand-new crafting mechanic that allows you to create runes with excellent attributes for sale or directly integrate into gear.
As you progress through Path of Exile 2, you’ll be able to imprint more symbols, allowing you to craft more valuable items. POECurrency.com reminds you that once you select an item to forge, you must defeat the enhanced enemies that appear to obtain it; the more symbols you use, the more waves of enhanced enemies you’ll face.
Unique Runeforging
After discovering hidden areas in POE 2 Act 3, Runeforging can also be applied to unique gear. This significantly enhances its existing attributes, allowing you to continuously upgrade any unique gear you’re developing, making it effective even in the endgame.
Armor Runeforging
While exploring various areas of POE 2, you can also collect Verisium, a currency specifically for Runeforging. You can use this to attach Runic Ward to armor, applicable to all weapons and classes.
This new Runic Ward is like your second lifeline: when your health and energy shield are depleted, your character will begin consuming shield value until health is restored. If your shield value is also depleted, your character will die.
New Combat Mechanics
Improved Survivability
In addition to the new defensive mechanic Runic Ward, we’re also getting some new, previously unknown dodge mechanics. Our base defense has been increased because PoE2 developers noticed too many player deaths in the mid-game, so the current value should be higher.
Lich Mechanics Reworked
Lich mechanics have been reworked; in fact, they’ve been nerfed. Now, a Lich’s attacks will only calculate their highest damage; lower damage won’t accumulate as before. Only the highest-damage skill will take effect. This will significantly reduce Lich damage, making their survival much more difficult.
New Kalguuran Skills
Kalguuran Skills consume Runic Ward, ignore attribute or weapon requirements, and can be used by any class. These skills combine ancient runes with corrupted gems for powerful effects.
Frostflame Nova: Unleashes a wave of flammable ice that devours flames, attaching itself to ignited enemies, refreshing their burn duration, and quickly freezing them.
Runic Infusion: Assists other skills in attacking, consuming Runic Ward to deal additional physical damage.
Mark of Repulsion: Marks a target with Verisium Rune. The mark is activated when you deal enough damage to an enemy or kill them, triggering an explosion that causes significant knockback.
Triskelion Cascade: Empowers your next spell, affecting an area around you or at the target’s location.
Hollow Shell: Consumes your Runic Ward to unleash an energy pulse, providing a shield to nearby allies.
Concussive Runes: Consumes Runic Ward to unleash a Rune Shock at the enemy’s feet, causing severe stun.
Game Feature Optimizations
Path of Exile 2 introduces a new in-game build planner, allowing you to directly import your own gear or gear from players you’re monitoring. This should make the campaign much easier.
We’re also getting map navigation features that will tell you where to go, specific locations, and directions.
This is primarily to help us locate ourselves on the map, which will be extremely useful. We won’t need to memorize or learn routes; with just some data and hints, we can know the exact location of a place.
Patch 0.5.0 marks the official start of a new era for Path of Exile 2, with every change injecting endless possibilities. Whether you want to farm rich loot in your garrison or delve into the optimal solution for Runeforging, Patch 0.5.0 provides a vast stage for you. If you want to gain an early advantage in the new League or craft your ideal endgame gear, POECurrency.com is always your most reliable supply station.
